Ridealso
Controls Engineer, Battery and BMS
About this role
ALSO seeks a Battery Controls Engineer to develop and validate BMS algorithms for electric vehicles, including state estimation, thermal management, and protection strategies. You'll design control systems in MATLAB/Simulink, generate embedded code, and collaborate across teams to deliver production-ready battery management solutions.
What you'll do
- Design and develop BMS control algorithms for thermal management, charging, and power distribution
- Develop and validate battery state estimation algorithms (SOC, SOH, SOF) using physics-based or data-driven approaches
- Design protection strategies including overvoltage/undervoltage, overcurrent, cell balancing, and thermal limits
- Build and validate system models in MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow and support MIL/SIL/HIL testing
- Generate production-quality embedded C/C++ code for microcontroller deployment
- Analyze field data to refine predictive models for battery degradation and performance
What they're looking for
- Battery management systems and SOC/SOH estimation
- Lithium-ion chemistry and electrochemical degradation mechanisms
- Control theory and state estimation (Kalman filtering)
- MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow and model-based development
- C/C++ embedded systems programming
- Embedded code generation tools (Simulink Coder/Embedded Coder)
- Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe)
- ISO 26262 functional safety standards
