Palo Alto$140k–$170kfulltimemidAdded today

About this role

ALSO is hiring an Embedded OTA Validation & Tools Engineer to design and execute comprehensive testing for over-the-air firmware updates across their electric vehicle fleet. You'll build automated test infrastructure, validate update resilience under real-world conditions, and ensure secure, reliable deployments across embedded devices.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute OTA validation plans covering full OS images, firmware, bootloaders, and A/B updates across device families
  • Build and scale automated testbeds using hardware-in-the-loop and virtualized environments to run regression and stress tests
  • Implement end-to-end OTA pipeline automation including signing, staging, rollout, and post-update verification
  • Test update resilience under adverse conditions: intermittent networks, power loss, low battery, and storage constraints
  • Validate security properties including signing verification, secure transport, secure boot, and key management
  • Define metrics and KPIs for rollout health; perform root cause analysis on failed updates and drive remediation

What they're looking for

  • Python and C/C++ programming
  • Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms
  • Bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot) and A/B partition schemes
  • CI/CD pipeline integration (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI)
  • Hardware debugging tools (JTAG, serial, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes)
  • OTA networking protocols (HTTP/S, MQTT, CoAP, Wi-Fi, cellular)
  • Log and packet capture analysis for diagnostics
  • Test automation and harness development
