Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term in Irvine, CA, to assist in developing low-level embedded software for critical vehicle control systems. Interns will contribute to various aspects of vehicle software design and validation, ensuring safety and reliability across systems.

What you'll do

• Implement and validate embedded software for vehicle systems
• Develop features for energy management and power distribution systems
• Design software architectures focused on reliability and performance
• Contribute to automated testing frameworks using various test environments
• Participate in the design and implementation of complex systems
• Collaborate with engineers to define requirements and validate software

• C/C++ and/or Python proficiency
• Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) experience
• Knowledge of communication protocols like CAN and LIN
• Microcontroller and PID controller experience
• Signal processing skills
