About this role
Rocket Lab seeks a Flight Software Engineer I to develop flight software for spacecraft and satellite systems in their Space Systems division. You'll write embedded software for real-time systems, create hardware drivers for sensors and actuators, and test code that launches to orbit within weeks, collaborating with hardware and systems teams throughout the development lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Develop application software for RTOS and embedded Linux environments
- Create hardware drivers for spacecraft sensors and actuators (IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels)
- Write and maintain unit tests within continuous integration frameworks
- Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers on software and hardware validation
- Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR) and source code reviews
- Support on-orbit and interplanetary flight operations
