About this role

Rocket Lab seeks an RF Engineer I/II to support development of space-based radar systems, including SAR applications, at their Long Beach headquarters. You'll conduct analysis, simulations, and testing of radar subsystems while working with experienced engineers on orbital-scale missions for NASA, Space Force, and commercial partners.

What you'll do

  • Support radar system architecture design, prototyping, integration, and flight development for space applications
  • Perform radar link budget analysis, performance modeling, and simulations using MATLAB, Python, or specialized radar tools
  • Conduct radar calculations (range/Doppler resolution, SNR, coverage) and assist with orbital effects analysis
  • Support waveform design, RF component selection, and hands-on testing including EIRP and imaging tests
  • Develop test plans, calibration procedures, and technical documentation including test reports and interface control documents
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on spacecraft integration, power budgets, thermal interfaces, and data handling
