About this role

Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Engineer I/II to develop software for robotic platforms, motion-control systems, and sensing systems at their Pasadena robotics facility. You'll work across the full lifecycle from concept through production support, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to build reliable automation software for space manufacturing operations.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain software for robotic systems, embedded interfaces, control applications, and operator-facing tools
  • Support full software lifecycle from concept, simulation, hardware bring-up, integration, testing, deployment, to production troubleshooting
  • Integrate software with motors, actuators, encoders, sensors, motion controllers, and industrial robotic equipment
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to define requirements and verification approaches
  • Troubleshoot issues across software, controls, electrical hardware, sensors, networks, and production equipment
  • Support software quality through code reviews, version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and documentation
