About this role
Rocket Lab seeks a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer I to design and develop lightweight satellite systems, mechanisms, and bus configurations for civil, commercial, and defense missions. You'll own components from concept through production and operation, performing analysis and leading technical reviews for cutting-edge space vehicles.
What you'll do
- Develop high-performance satellite systems, mechanisms, and bus configurations for customers
- Own component designs from conceptual design through production, test, and operation
- Perform hand calculations and FEA analysis to drive design decisions
- Lead design, manufacturing, and test reviews for key components
- Create and maintain product definitions through CAD, drawings, and procedures
- Support business development with proposals and mission concepts
