Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II - TS/SCI

Rocket Lab is seeking a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer II in Long Beach, CA, to design and develop lightweight satellite systems and mechanisms for various missions. This role involves collaborating with the Business Development team and managing the design process from concept to production while ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

What you'll do

• Support Business Development with proposals and mission concepts
• Develop lightweight satellite systems and configurations
• Create designs for high-value science and interplanetary missions
• Conduct design reviews and oversee component testing
• Manage development schedules, budgets, and project deliverables
• Maintain product documentation through CAD and technical drawings

What they're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
• 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience
• CAD modeling and drawing proficiency
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Ability to perform hand-calculations and FEA
• Strong problem-solving skills in mechanical mechanisms
• Experience in spacecraft/satellite design
• Ability to work autonomously
