About this role
Rocket Lab seeks a Systems Engineer II in Long Beach to develop and maintain technical budgets, requirements, simulations, and test plans for spacecraft missions supporting civil, commercial, and defense customers. You'll lead technical development of space systems while collaborating across teams on design documentation and subsystem integration.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance and system requirements
- Create simulations, analysis, and test methods across vehicle functions
- Lead technical development and own spacecraft mission design
- Develop interface specifications, operational concepts, and design documentation
- Execute test planning and data analysis for flight hardware
- Support program and product management activities

- Systems engineering and requirements management
- Spacecraft subsystems (ADCS, EPS, C&DH, thermal control, communications)
- MATLAB and Python programming
- Orbital mechanics and rigid body dynamics
- STK (Satellite Toolkit) software
- Requirement management tools (JAMA or DOORS)
- Test execution and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing
- Technical budgeting and performance analysis
