About this role

Sila seeks an R&D Operations Engineer to optimize battery material production and testing processes in our Alameda lab. You'll implement quality controls, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor technicians while working hands-on to enable customers to leverage our advanced lithium-ion battery technology.

What you'll do

  • Establish and monitor quality control procedures including incoming/in-process/final material inspections and SPC charting
  • Conduct root cause analyses to identify and resolve production defects
  • Lead continuous improvement projects using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies on battery assembly and testing processes
  • Mentor, train, and coach technicians on lab procedures and best practices
  • Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting on process performance, efficiency, and quality metrics
  • Scope, plan, and integrate new equipment and processes to improve performance, output, and yield
