About this role

SimpliSafe's Device Cloud Services team seeks a Software Engineer I to build backend systems enabling customers to control their home security systems remotely. You'll work on large-scale distributed services with senior mentorship, contribute real features from day one, and leverage AI-assisted development tools while growing your cloud engineering expertise.

What you'll do

  • Learn the codebase and engineering practices while contributing to backend features with senior guidance
  • Design and build well-tested software components for cloud-based device control systems
  • Write automated tests to ensure code reliability and safe refactoring
  • Debug issues, fix bugs, and make incremental improvements to existing services
  • Participate in code reviews and document systems for team understanding
  • Join on-call rotation as first responder after onboarding period

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, Python)
  • Data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles
