About this role

Skild AI seeks a Manufacturing Design Engineer to guide robotic prototypes from development into small-scale production. You'll design assembly fixtures and tooling, perform hands-on system integration, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize manufacturability and build processes.

What you'll do

  • Design assembly jigs, test fixtures, and tooling using CAD software to improve build speed and consistency
  • Perform full-system assembly of robotic prototypes and small-batch production units with mechanical, electrical, and sensing components
  • Build cable harnesses, integrate sensors and actuators, and bring subsystems together into functional platforms
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback early in development to enhance assembly efficiency and scalability
  • Create and maintain assembly procedures, bills of materials, and test protocols for consistent fleet builds

What they're looking for

  • CAD design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
  • Mechanical assembly and system integration
  • Hand tools, power tools, and lab equipment operation
  • Electrical schematic reading, soldering, and crimping
  • Cable harness fabrication and routing
  • Manufacturing process documentation and DFM/DFA analysis
  • Prototyping with 3D printing, mills, or lathes
  • Robotic systems assembly experience

Benefits

  • $100,000–$300,000 base salary
