Electrical Engineer Intern
About this role
Skydio seeks electrical engineering interns to design, prototype, and validate low-voltage circuit boards and power systems for autonomous drones. You'll work hands-on with PCB development, bring-up, and testing while collaborating across mechanical, firmware, and software teams on cutting-edge aerial platforms.
What you'll do
- Design schematics, PCB layouts, and manage prototyping for low-voltage electronic hardware subsystems
- Perform hands-on circuit board assembly, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing
- Develop and test PCBAs for power distribution, battery management, sensing, motor control, and computing
- Collaborate cross-functionally on test systems and reliability validation with firmware and mechanical teams
- Participate in design reviews for schematics, layouts, and bills of materials
- Conduct system integration testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis
What they're looking for
- PCB schematic design and layout (preferably Cadence Allegro)
- Hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes and signal generators
- Power electronics including motor drivers and switch-mode power supplies
- Digital electronics with microcontrollers, FPGAs, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C
- Analog electronics including filters, ADCs, and DACs
- Python or C programming for testing and prototyping
- Autonomous prototyping and problem-solving
- Electrical engineering fundamentals and circuit analysis
