Applied AI Engineer - Federal (TS Required)
About this role
Snorkel seeks an Applied AI Engineer to partner with federal customers on building and deploying generative AI and machine learning solutions end-to-end. You'll design custom AI systems, manage customer relationships, standardize solutions into reusable best practices, and help shape Snorkel's next-generation tooling while working on complex national security problems.
What you'll do
- Partner with customers to scope, design, and deploy Gen AI/ML solutions from data exploration through model deployment
- Develop state-of-the-art systems including RAG, fine-tuning pipelines, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows
- Create augmented datasets and evaluation frameworks to ensure model reliability and stakeholder trust
- Manage customer relationships and collaborate with pre-sales, product, and engineering teams on project success
- Standardize bespoke solutions into internal recipes and best practices for the Applied AI platform
- Conduct enablement workshops and educate stakeholders on quantitative capabilities and AI approaches

- Python with software engineering fundamentals (testing, packaging, type validation)
- Applied AI stack: scikit-learn, PyTorch, Hugging Face, FAISS, pandas/Spark
- RAG, retrieval, and LLM orchestration tools (LlamaIndex, LangGraph, CrewAI, Chroma, Weaviate)
- Data evaluation workflows and synthetic dataset curation
- Customer-facing technical consulting and executive communication
- ML deployment orchestration (Ray, Airflow)
- Fast-paced multi-project prioritization
- National security or federal domain knowledge (preferred)
