IT Storage Engineer
About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced storage engineer to design and operate enterprise storage infrastructure supporting mission-critical simulation, telemetry, and test data workloads. The role requires hands-on expertise with platforms like Pure, NetApp, and VAST in an on-premises environment, with responsibility for multi-tier storage architecture, performance optimization, and infrastructure automation.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain multi-tier storage infrastructure (high-performance, capacity, archive, backup, and disaster recovery)
- Architect and operate exabyte-scale file systems with high throughput and low latency for simulation and telemetry workloads
- Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, VAST, and HPE Alletra storage systems
- Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers
- Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, configuration management, and alerting
- Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams on storage strategy alignment
