Mechanical Engineer, Tower & Launch Mount (Starship)

About this role

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Starship launch mount and catch tower project. This role involves designing and developing critical ground support systems to enhance launch efficiency and support the company's mission of enabling human life on Mars.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with analysts and the design team on tower design and manufacturing processes
• Develop production procedures and oversee the transition from development to production
• Coordinate testing of systems and tooling to meet deadlines
• Execute manufacturability enhancements for production efficiency
• Create CAD models and technical documentation for flight components
• Serve as the design engineering lead for parts and assemblies

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• 1+ years of hands-on mechanical systems experience
• Manufacturing design experience
• Knowledge of GD&T concepts
• Familiarity with fluid dynamics and modeling software
• Experience in large steel structures construction
• Ability to design pressurized systems
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
