About this role

SpaceX seeks an Optical Test Engineer to design and operate optical metrology systems that validate flight hardware for Starmind, a space-based AI compute constellation. You'll automate test procedures, troubleshoot optical systems, and collaborate with design and production teams to ensure hardware meets specifications for reliable space operations.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and operate optical metrology and test systems for satellite hardware validation
  • Troubleshoot optical flight hardware issues using test data and analysis
  • Automate optical test equipment and data collection to support high-volume production
  • Train technicians on the operation and maintenance of optical test equipment
  • Contribute to laser communication system design, analysis, and component development
  • Execute validation testing including performance characterization, qualification, and reliability testing
