SpaceX
Production Engineer (Starship Electronics)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Production Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for Starship spacecraft electronics, including avionics, power systems, and communications hardware. You'll design factory stations, tooling, and work cross-functionally to achieve low-cost, high-reliability production at scale for the most advanced vehicle ever flown.
What you'll do
- Develop and continuously improve process chains for Starship electronics components, focusing on standardization and efficiency
- Design factory stations and production assets to expand capability, reduce cycle time, and improve yield
- Create mechanical tooling and capital automation equipment for building, testing, and delivering avionics hardware
- Establish design-for-manufacturing guidelines and collaborate with design teams on product and factory co-design
- Investigate root causes of process failures and implement corrective actions for mechanical and electrical assembly
- Support vehicle architecture trade studies to reduce cost and production complexity
What they're looking for
- Manufacturing engineering and process optimization
- Mechanical design tools (CAD, FEA, GD&T, tolerance stack analysis)
- PCB fabrication and PCBA assembly processes
- Electro-mechanical assembly and design-for-manufacturing
- Process failure modes and effects analysis (PFMEA)
- Capital equipment introduction and process automation
- Data analysis and programming (SQL, Python)
- Cross-functional communication and influence
Benefits
