About this role
Stripe is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and implement critical systems powering credit decision-making infrastructure. You'll collaborate across engineering, data science, and product teams to build scalable APIs and financial systems while contributing to the next generation of Stripe's platform.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end problem solving across diverse systems, processes, and technologies
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, data scientists, and product managers on feature development
- Design and build elegant APIs enabling merchants to scale their businesses
- Contribute to the architecture of next-generation infrastructure supporting high growth
- Implement critical financial decision-making systems alongside data scientists and strategy partners
- Maintain high engineering standards across multiple codebases and processes
What they're looking for
- Backend development with 2+ of: Java, Ruby, Scala, Python, or SQL
- Distributed systems and large-scale computing
- Cloud platforms and services (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC, GraphQL)
- Apache Spark and IDE tools
- Full-stack development and API design
- Data analysis and experiment result querying
- Financial systems or fintech domain knowledge
- Cross-functional collaboration and system design
