About this role

Terran Orbital seeks a Mechanical Engineer (Level I or II) to design and develop spacecraft and subsystems, from concept through production. You'll create 3D models, perform structural and thermal analysis, generate technical documentation, and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative satellite solutions for defense and commercial missions.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop spacecraft mechanical systems, structures, thermal subsystems, and mechanisms across all product lifecycle stages
  • Create CAD models and technical drawings for spacecraft components, assemblies, cable harnesses, and ground support equipment
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis using FEA tools and hand calculations to validate designs
  • Develop and maintain design documentation including Bills of Material, Interface Control Drawings, and compliance matrices
  • Support electrical cabling integration with connector selection, bundle design, and routing coordination
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to implement design-for-manufacturability and assembly best practices
