About this role
Trace3 seeks an Information Systems Security Engineer III to lead cybersecurity integration across complex DoD systems operating in AWS classified environments. The role combines Risk Management Framework (RMF) execution, system hardening, vulnerability assessment, and Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation to maintain mission-critical security posture.
What you'll do
- Design and implement secure architectures for multi-level systems, AWS cloud, and on-premise networks aligned with NIST 800-53 and DoD standards
- Lead RMF lifecycle activities including system categorization, control selection, implementation, and continuous monitoring
- Develop and maintain Body of Evidence documentation (SSP, SAR, POA&M) and support assessment and authorization activities
- Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools like Nessus, ACAS, and SCAP; prioritize findings and drive remediation with engineering teams
- Implement system hardening and validate compliance with security baselines and DoD requirements
- Act as primary liaison between systems engineering and security compliance stakeholders to integrate security without compromising mission objectives
