About this role

Varda seeks a Mission Software Engineer to develop and maintain critical ground segment software for spacecraft operations, including telemetry systems, mission control interfaces, and simulation tools. You'll work across the full stack from flight software integration to mission operations, building reliable services that support both testing and on-orbit activities.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and spacecraft commanding
  • Create operator-grade mission control UIs and dashboards that minimize cognitive load during integration, testing, and on-orbit phases
  • Build simulation and test automation tools to validate flight software, avionics, and guidance/navigation systems
  • Design and implement the mission software platform including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and self-service tooling
  • Establish deployment patterns and strategies for lab, test range, and mission network environments with safe rollout/rollback capabilities

What they're looking for

  • Python development with strong language fundamentals
  • Safety-critical software development (3+ years)
  • Real-time data acquisition and low-latency messaging systems
  • Systems design: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability
  • Mission control interface and dashboard design
  • CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
  • Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing frameworks
  • Spacecraft or avionics software experience
