About this role
Varda seeks an experienced Space Avionics Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and test avionics systems for the Winnebago spacecraft, from concept through launch and reentry operations. You'll lead cross-functional collaboration, develop electrical architectures, conduct comprehensive verification, and operate mission systems in a fast-paced commercial space environment.
What you'll do
- Design electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets (power, telemetry, mass) aligned with vehicle objectives
- Perform fault analysis, develop FDIR strategies, and create mitigation plans for avionics systems
- Conduct verification testing on flight and HITL hardware to ensure launch and mission readiness
- Oversee avionics integration and act as primary contact for integrated systems investigations
- Design, build, and operate Hardware In The Loop testbeds simulating spacecraft systems
- Support mission operations as avionics specialist monitoring system health and reentry commit criteria
