About this role
Varda seeks an Avionics Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and test avionics for the Winnebago spacecraft, managing electrical architecture, fault analysis, verification, and ground test infrastructure. You'll collaborate across teams to ensure mission-ready systems for in-orbit operations and hypersonic reentry.
What you'll do
- Design electrical architecture, system diagrams, and power/telemetry budgets aligned with vehicle objectives
- Perform fault analysis and develop Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) mitigation strategies
- Execute comprehensive verification and validation of avionics on flight and Hardware-In-The-Loop testbeds
- Serve as avionics specialist during mission operations, monitoring system health and reentry commit criteria
- Build and operate HITL testbeds and ground test infrastructure for spacecraft simulation
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and test automation
