About this role
Varda seeks an experienced Avionics Systems Engineer II to design, integrate, and test avionics systems for their Winnebago spacecraft. This role demands expertise in electrical architecture, fault analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop testing to ensure mission readiness for in-orbit operations and reentry. You'll collaborate across teams, mentor junior engineers, and play a critical role in space infrastructure development.
What you'll do
- Design electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass allocation
- Conduct fault analysis and develop FDIR (Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery) mitigation strategies
- Lead comprehensive verification and validation testing on flight and HITL hardware
- Design, build, and operate Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds to simulate spacecraft performance
- Oversee avionics system integration and serve as primary contact for integrated systems investigations
- Support mission operations as an avionics specialist and mentor new engineers
