Space Electrical Systems Engineer II
About this role
Varda seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer II to lead the design, integration, and testing of avionics systems for the Winnebago spacecraft. You'll collaborate across teams to develop electrical architectures from concept through production, manage risk mitigation strategies, and ensure mission readiness for orbital and reentry operations.
What you'll do
- Design electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass predictions aligned with vehicle objectives
- Develop and execute comprehensive verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware
- Analyze systems for faults and risks, creating mitigation strategies and FDIR solutions
- Design, build, and operate Hardware In The Loop testbeds to simulate spacecraft performance
- Oversee avionics system integration and act as primary contact for integrated systems investigations
- Support ground infrastructure development, test racks, and contribute to engineering best practices and automation
What they're looking for
- Avionics system design and architecture
- Python programming and debugging
- Test planning and validation methodologies
- Fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR)
- Hardware In The Loop (HITL) simulation
- Power budgeting and telemetry analysis
- Technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration
