El Segundo, California, United States$131k–$184kmidAdded today

About this role

Varda seeks a Spacecraft Mission Software Engineer to develop and maintain ground segment software supporting spacecraft operations, including telemetry services, mission control interfaces, simulation tools, and deployment infrastructure. You'll work across lab, test, and operational environments, collaborating with flight software, avionics, and RF teams.

What you'll do

  • Develop high-reliability ground segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding with deterministic real-time behavior
  • Create operator-grade mission control dashboards and UIs optimized for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations
  • Build simulation frameworks and automated test tools for flight software, device emulators, and scenario-based validation
  • Design and productionize mission platform software with standardized CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and self-service tooling
  • Implement robust deployment patterns for lab, test, and mission networks with safe rollout/rollback and air-gapped connectivity strategies
  • Collaborate with avionics, GNC, and operations teams to enable fast iteration and safe testing cycles

What they're looking for

  • Python development with strong language fundamentals
  • Spacecraft or safety-critical software development (3+ years)
  • Real-time data acquisition, low-latency messaging, and time-series systems
  • Systems fundamentals: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability
  • CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
  • Mission control software and operator UI design
  • Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing frameworks
  • Deployment strategies for constrained environments
