About this role

Vast is seeking an Avionics Design Reliability Engineer to ensure Haven-1's avionics, RF, and power systems are designed and function reliably throughout their operational lifetime. You'll lead FMEA activities, review verification and validation data, guide design teams, and shepherd these critical systems from detailed design through human-rated spaceflight certification.

What you'll do

Lead Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and integrate reliability principles into avionics, RF, and power system designs
Develop design criteria, requirements, and verification approaches for Haven-1 avionics architecture
Conduct technical reviews of hardware designs, manufacturing drawings, and test plans across design milestone gates
Define and review acceptance and qualification test campaigns for flight systems
Architect engineering standards, design guides, and review frameworks for avionics and power systems
Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure build practices align with design intent and analyze field data for design improvements
