About this role

Vast seeks a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to lead radiation survivability planning and testing for next-generation commercial space stations. You'll oversee proton and heavy ion testing, establish radiation requirements aligned with industry standards, and coordinate across engineering teams to ensure avionics and spacecraft systems survive the space environment.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate and oversee proton beam and heavy ion radiation tests for avionics systems
  • Develop radiation effects and survivability requirements for Vast spacecraft
  • Derive and distribute in-space environmental requirements across teams
  • Tailor industry standards (EEE-INST-002, NASA 8739.11) for Vast missions
  • Lead radiation effects team to meet project deadlines and company objectives
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with avionics, design, and mission teams
