About this role
Verkada is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware for cloud-managed access control devices. You'll work on a startup-like team building secure, Linux-based systems that integrate with the company's physical security platform serving Fortune 500 customers.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain embedded Linux firmware for access control hardware devices
- Design and implement secure boot, kernel patches, and device driver solutions
- Collaborate with backend and frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end access control features
- Take technical ownership of major embedded systems and drive products from concept to completion
- Debug and optimize Linux-based systems for security, performance, and reliability
- Contribute to distributed systems architecture for cloud-managed device communication
