About this role
Waymo is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer in Vehicle Engineering to design custom vehicle structures and collaborate with various teams and suppliers to enhance the Waymo Driver technology. The role requires a strong background in vehicle engineering, with a focus on turning design concepts into production-ready components.
What you'll do
- Design custom vehicle structures and trim for Waymo vehicles
- Collaborate with OEM partners on vehicle architecture changes
- Work with internal teams to develop engineering solutions
- Interface with Tier One suppliers for production implementation
- Create and present trade matrices for design solutions
- Develop hardware using various manufacturing technologies
What they're looking for
- Experience with vehicle structure engineering
- 10 years of product design experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
- Proficiency in Catia (V5/V6)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to engage with suppliers
- Understanding of mold flow analysis
- PPAP quality process knowledge
