About this role
Waymo seeks an ML ASIC Design Engineer to architect and optimize custom silicon for autonomous vehicle compute platforms. You'll translate ML requirements into high-performance hardware designs, specifying microarchitectures and execution units while collaborating with researchers and verification teams to deliver world-class performance.
What you'll do
- Translate high-level requirements from researchers and architects into hardware features and specifications
- Design and specify microarchitectures optimized for ML workloads on autonomous driving systems
- Perform power, area, and performance exploration and optimization of digital ASIC designs
- Design high-performance execution units, arithmetic circuits, and programmable engines
- Collaborate with verification teams to ensure functional correctness and performance targets are met
- Work on the compute platform that powers Waymo's fully autonomous vehicle software stack
