About this role

AccuWeather seeks a senior backend engineer to lead the design and development of real-time weather data processing systems serving hundreds of millions of users. You'll architect scalable infrastructure, mentor junior developers, and own end-to-end data pipelines while collaborating across teams in a remote-friendly role.

What you'll do

  • Lead design, development, and maintenance of backend processors for ingesting, validating, and distributing real-time weather data
  • Own end-to-end data flows including monitoring, operational efficiency, and incident response
  • Design database schemas and SQL objects while setting reliability and performance standards
  • Drive technical alignment across engineers, product managers, and stakeholders on complex solutions
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and establish documentation and engineering standards
  • Investigate production issues, evaluate emerging technologies, and improve development processes
