About this role
Alarm.com is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop Android features for their mobile application serving millions of customers. You'll work on real-time video streaming, IoT device controls, and smart home automation using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android technologies in a collaborative, in-office environment.
What you'll do
- Develop and deploy Android features for the flagship Alarm.com mobile application
- Design and implement real-time video streaming features using Android media frameworks with HLS/RTSP protocols
- Build responsive, performant UIs following Material Design guidelines and Android best practices
- Collaborate across the full project lifecycle with iOS engineers, backend teams, QA, and product managers
- Research and evaluate new Android technologies to solve complex technical challenges
- Contribute ideas and participate in product development decisions

- Kotlin (proficiency required)
- Android Studio and Android SDK
- Jetpack Compose
- Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming
- RESTful API integration and JSON parsing
- Modern architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, MVP)

- Video streaming technologies (HLS/RTSP protocols)
