Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Automation
About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Controls Engineer to design, build, and maintain manufacturing automation systems including PLC/HMI development, Ignition SCADA applications, and OT/IT infrastructure. You'll work across the full lifecycle of controls systems in a defense manufacturing environment, from architecture through commissioning and sustainment, while ensuring OT cybersecurity and cross-functional collaboration.
What you'll do
- Develop and debug PLC code on Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms with structured, production-ready documentation
- Build Ignition Perspective SCADA applications including views, tag architecture, alarms, and gateway topology
- Deploy and maintain OT/IT infrastructure (Ignition gateways, historians, MQTT brokers) with backup and change-control discipline
- Design and troubleshoot the production OT networking stack (MQTT, OPC UA, TCP/IP, VLANs) down to packet-level analysis
- Apply OT security practices including network segmentation, air-gapped design, IEC 62443 compliance, and server hardening
- Partner with IT, Security, and Manufacturing Engineering on design reviews, cybersecurity approvals, and cross-functional initiatives
