Costa Mesa, California, United StatesFrom $220kmidAdded today

About this role

Anduril is hiring a Software Engineer to build and operate ground-based command-and-control software for satellite missions supporting U.S. military and intelligence customers. You'll develop backend services in Go using gRPC/Protobuf, integrate with spacecraft and ground infrastructure, and own solutions end-to-end from design through production deployment.

What you'll do

  • Design and deploy backend services for mission command, telemetry ingestion, ground-station management, and space-to-ground data links
  • Write and evolve protobuf API contracts while coordinating interface changes across teams
  • Operate services on Kubernetes in secure government clouds and participate in on-call support for live missions
  • Integrate with spacecraft, software-defined radios, antenna systems, and legacy defense infrastructure
  • Build software-in-the-loop simulations to validate end-to-end operations before live satellite passes
  • Conduct rigorous code reviews and collaborate with multiple teams on complex functionality

What they're looking for

  • Backend and distributed systems development in Go, Rust, or C++
  • gRPC/Protobuf service design and implementation
  • Kubernetes and container deployment with CI/CD pipelines
  • Hardware integration and embedded systems interfaces
  • Real-time data pipeline and protocol implementation
  • Monitoring, metrics analysis, and incident response
  • Complex systems navigation and problem-solving
  • Space/aerospace domain knowledge (preferred but not required)

Benefits

  • Work on critical defense systems with real-world mission impact
  • Operate cutting-edge AI-powered command and control platforms
  • Partner directly with military and intelligence customers
  • Access to secure government cloud infrastructure
  • Opportunity to integrate legacy and modern space systems

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a backend service you shipped to production—how did you handle API design, deployment, and operational issues?
  • Describe your experience integrating software with physical hardware or embedded systems. What challenges did you encounter?
