About this role

Antares seeks a Welding Engineer II to develop and qualify welding processes for advanced nuclear microreactor systems, managing everything from material selection through production and regulatory compliance. You'll combine metallurgical expertise with hands-on problem-solving to scale first-of-a-kind reactor hardware, working across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

What you'll do

  • Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures (WPS, PQR) and welder performance qualifications
  • Select welding processes, filler metals, joint designs, and parameters for stainless steels and superalloys
  • Provide design-for-welding guidance addressing joint accessibility, distortion, stress, and manufacturability
  • Lead root-cause investigations and develop repair procedures for weld defects and nonconformances
  • Create manufacturing work instructions, process controls, weld maps, and inspection criteria
  • Oversee welding supplier qualification and provide technical oversight of outside fabrication partners
