Flight Software Engineer

About this role

Apex is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to design and develop autonomous control software for commercial satellite buses. You'll own mission-critical systems that operate reliably in space, collaborating with internal teams and external customers to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you'll do

• Design and implement mission-critical flight software applications for satellite systems
• Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations
• Own software solutions through full lifecycle from design to deployment
• Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing to identify and resolve defects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product requirements and technical roadmaps

What they're looking for

• Python, C++, or Rust programming
• Real-time systems and distributed hardware experience
• Embedded Linux and Yocto knowledge
• Satellite protocols (CCSDS, ECSS)
• Software testing and validation for real-time systems
• Network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and encryption
• Flight software development (2.5+ years)
• System integration and debugging
