Ground Software Engineer (Mid)

About this role

Apex is seeking a mid-level Ground Software Engineer to design and develop software systems that control, communicate with, and monitor satellite operations. You'll own solutions across their full lifecycle while supporting spacecraft commissioning and ensuring reliable ground operations for a fast-growing commercial spacecraft manufacturer.

What you'll do

• Design and develop ground software for satellite communication, control, and telemetry systems
• Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations
• Own ground software solutions from initial design through deployment
• Integrate third-party tools and custom software to automate satellite operations and data processing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product requirements and technical roadmaps
• Monitor and improve system scalability, redundancy, and failover strategies

What they're looking for

• Go, TypeScript, Python, or Rust programming
• Microservices frameworks and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC)
• Cloud-based solutions and deployment
• Linux system administration
• Network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and secure communication
• Real-time and distributed systems testing and validation
• Software integration and system architecture
• 3+ years ground software development experience
