About this role
Apex seeks a Spacecraft Structures Test Engineer to lead validation testing of satellite buses from component through full-system integration. You'll design test strategies, operate specialized systems, and collaborate across teams to prove spacecraft performance in real environments.
What you'll do
- Own structural test strategy and execution across all levels from components to integrated spacecraft
- Develop and operate fluid, hydraulic, and pressurized systems including high-pressure and cryogenic environments
- Design data acquisition systems with strain gauges, load cells, pressure transducers, and thermocouples
- Write and automate test procedures using Python for execution and analysis
- Lead end-to-end test operations including setup, execution, and post-test review
- Troubleshoot failures and partner with design, avionics, and manufacturing teams on root cause analysis

- Structural mechanics and testing (strength, stability, fatigue)
- Test stand design and load application systems
- Instrumentation and lab equipment operation
- Python scripting and test automation
- Structural analysis (FEM and hand calculations)
- High-pressure and cryogenic system experience
- Environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC)
- CAD/FEA software (NX, Nastran, ANSYS)
