About this role

Apex seeks a Spacecraft Structures Test Engineer to lead validation testing of satellite buses from component through full-system integration. You'll design test strategies, operate specialized systems, and collaborate across teams to prove spacecraft performance in real environments.

What you'll do

  • Own structural test strategy and execution across all levels from components to integrated spacecraft
  • Develop and operate fluid, hydraulic, and pressurized systems including high-pressure and cryogenic environments
  • Design data acquisition systems with strain gauges, load cells, pressure transducers, and thermocouples
  • Write and automate test procedures using Python for execution and analysis
  • Lead end-to-end test operations including setup, execution, and post-test review
  • Troubleshoot failures and partner with design, avionics, and manufacturing teams on root cause analysis

  • Test stand design and load application systems
  • Instrumentation and lab equipment operation
  • Python scripting and test automation
  • Structural analysis (FEM and hand calculations)
  • High-pressure and cryogenic system experience
  • Environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC)
  • CAD/FEA software (NX, Nastran, ANSYS)
