About this role

Apex Companies seeks an experienced Transportation Civil Engineer for their Portland office to lead roadway and highway design projects for public and private clients. You'll manage design elements from concept through construction documents, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines in a fast-growing consulting firm.

What you'll do

  • Lead moderate to large-scale roadway/highway design projects and independently manage smaller projects using AASHTO and local standards
  • Prepare design work including roadway sections, intersections, drainage, alignments, traffic control, and construction staging plans
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers in developing Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) documents
  • Manage day-to-day communication with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams; write technical reports and memos
  • Self-manage multiple project tasks and coordinate with project managers to maintain schedules and budgets
  • Represent Apex in professional organizations and perform additional duties as assigned
