AI Security Engineer

About this role

Appian seeks an AI Security Engineer to design and deploy autonomous AI agents for enterprise security operations, integrating with SIEM, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms. You'll translate SOC playbooks into agentic workflows, optimize RAG pipelines, and implement LLM security guardrails to prevent misuse while maintaining human oversight.

What you'll do

• Design, test, and deploy autonomous AI agents integrated with enterprise security tools (SIEM, EDR, XDR, Threat Intel)
• Convert traditional SOC playbooks into deterministic and heuristic agentic pipelines using DAGs and multi-agent routing
• Build and optimize production-grade RAG workflows to inject real-time security context and historical incident data into agent prompts
• Evaluate and optimize LLM performance, latency, context window utilization, and cost-efficiency across multiple models
• Engineer human-in-the-loop handoff mechanisms for safe escalation of complex security anomalies to analysts
• Implement security boundaries around LLM architecture to mitigate prompt injection, data poisoning, and tool-abuse attacks

• Python, Go, Scala, or Java programming (2+ years)
• Multi-agent AI systems (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel)
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) design and optimization
• Vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus, Weaviate)
• Cloud deployment and containerization (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes)
• LLM evaluation, benchmarking, and performance engineering
• Security operations, threat intelligence, and SIEM/EDR platforms
• LLM security and OWASP Top 10 for LLMs
