About this role
Appian seeks a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to contribute to production-adjacent work on their AI-powered Process Automation platform. You'll develop full-stack components, leverage AI coding tools, debug complex systems, and collaborate within a high-performing engineering team at their McLean, Virginia headquarters.
What you'll do
- Develop clean, production-quality software using data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles
- Use AI coding tools to generate, review, and critically evaluate code while maintaining quality standards
- Investigate software defects, identify root causes, and contribute fixes under senior engineer guidance
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and stand-ups to learn enterprise software practices
- Translate technical requirements into well-defined solutions and communicate progress to the team
- Contribute to full-stack components across Appian's platform
