About this role
Applied Intuition seeks a Systems Safety Engineer to develop and own safety cases for autonomous mining and industrial vehicles. You'll conduct hazard analysis, derive safety requirements for critical systems like braking and steering, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure safe autonomous deployments.
What you'll do
- Develop and own machine-level safety cases for autonomous mining vehicle deployments
- Design hazard identification and risk assessment activities including HAZOP, FMEA, and functional failure analysis
- Derive Machine Safety Requirements for brake, steer, throttle, transmission, and emergency stop systems
- Identify safety gaps across sensing, compute, controls, hydraulics, and actuation subsystems
- Support validation strategies, field testing, and deployment sign-offs with customers and regulators
- Collaborate with systems, controls, autonomy, software, and hardware teams on safety implementation
What they're looking for
- ISO 26262 system safety standards (Part 4 and Part 6)
- HAZOP and FMEA methodologies
- Safety requirement derivation and risk assessment
- System-level safety analysis for electromechanical systems
- Knowledge of brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and autonomous control systems
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
