Electrical Engineer
About this role
Arc is hiring an Electrical Engineer to design and develop electric and hybrid propulsion systems for commercial marine vessels. You'll translate control architectures into manufacturable hardware, manage panel design and testing, and support sea trials for vessels like tugs and ferries.
What you'll do
- Translate control architectures and P&IDs into detailed hardware definitions and panel layouts
- Own logical IO allocation, schematics, and 2D/3D panel design using CAD tools
- Generate manufacturing documentation including BOMs, wire lists, and terminal diagrams
- Design, build, test, and debug high and low voltage electrical systems
- Develop and maintain bench test systems with feature parity to production vessels
- Support sea trials and interface with suppliers, shipyards, and vessel operators

- Control panel design and low voltage distribution
- Electrical design software (Zuken, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical)
- Industrial automation hardware specification (PLCs, IO modules, switches, power supplies)
- Industrial/automotive communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, CAN)
- Electrical panel design, building, and troubleshooting
- Marine electrical standards (UL508A, IEC 61439, ABS, USCG)
- Functional safety and EMI/EMC design
- First-principles problem-solving and technical prioritization
