About this role

Astro Mechanica seeks a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to drive airframe integration and component hardware development for a supersonic demonstrator aircraft. You'll own designs from concept through flight test, performing analyses, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating across propulsion, structures, and avionics teams in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

What you'll do

  • Conduct trade studies and first-order analyses to inform component design and system architecture decisions
  • Complete detailed component designs, drawings, and validation through structural, thermal, and fluid analyses
  • Collaborate with propulsion, structures, avionics, controls, and manufacturing teams on integration
  • Specify, select, and qualify off-the-shelf and custom components with suppliers
  • Develop and conduct hardware test plans to verify requirements and performance metrics
  • Provide hands-on support during prototyping, vehicle builds, ground testing, and flight campaigns
