Sterling, Virginia, United StatesFrom $120kentryAdded today

About this role

Axon/Dedrone is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to design and build counter-UAS hardware, splitting time between hands-on bench work (building, testing, debugging) and design tasks like PCB layout and cable harness design. You'll grow from assembly and testing toward full board ownership while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a Sterling, VA hybrid role.

What you'll do

  • Build, assemble, and rework prototype electronic assemblies including PCBs and cable harnesses following schematics and IPC standards
  • Design cable assemblies and wire harnesses with proper connector selection, pinouts, gauge derating, shielding, and fabrication drawings
  • Lay out printed circuit boards from senior engineer schematics and generate complete fabrication and assembly packages
  • Perform hardware bring-up, functional testing, and debug using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
  • Execute formal verification and validation test plans including EMC, environmental, and MIL-STD procedures with accurate data recording
  • Manage lab operations including equipment inventory, calibration tracking, ESD safety, consumables, and fixture organization

What they're looking for

  • PCB design and layout
  • Cable and harness design
  • Schematic reading and interpretation
  • Electronic assembly and rework (soldering, component handling)
  • Test equipment operation (multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supply)
  • Hardware troubleshooting and debugging
  • Technical documentation and data recording
  • IPC workmanship standards

Benefits

  • Hybrid work arrangement (onsite Tuesday-Friday)
  • Structured growth path from entry-level to Electrical Engineer II
  • Hands-on learning from senior engineers
  • Work on cutting-edge counter-UAS technology
  • Meaningful mission protecting airspace and public safety
  • Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, firmware, and product teams
