Supplier Development Engineer
About this role
Base seeks a Supplier Development Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes across our global supply base, ramping suppliers from prototyping through full-scale production of distributed battery systems. You'll partner directly with suppliers and internal teams to assess capabilities, solve technical challenges, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality production at scale.
What you'll do
- Ramp supplier production lines from prototype to full-scale manufacturing while validating equipment, staffing, and process readiness
- Assess supplier cultural fit and long-term partnership viability through facility audits and capability evaluations
- Optimize supplier manufacturing processes across injection molding, CNC machining, PCB/PCBA, stamping, and assembly
- Support design for manufacturability reviews by representing supplier constraints during product design phases
- Map supplier manufacturing processes to identify capacity bottlenecks and anticipate scaling requirements
- Evaluate should-cost models of manufacturing strategies to guide Base investment decisions
