Varda Space Industries
Systems Engineer II, Flight Electronics
About this role
Varda seeks a Systems Engineer II to design, integrate, and test avionics systems for the Winnebago spacecraft, managing the complete lifecycle from concept through launch and reentry operations. You'll lead electrical architecture development, conduct fault analysis, oversee HITL testbed design, and ensure mission readiness across space and atmospheric reentry phases.
What you'll do
- Define project scopes and requirements with cross-functional teams, guiding designs from concept to production
- Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass predictions
- Perform fault analysis and risk mitigation planning, including FDIR strategy development
- Create comprehensive verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware
- Design, build, and operate Hardware In The Loop testbeds to simulate spacecraft systems
- Serve as primary contact for avionics integration investigations and mentor junior engineers
What they're looking for
- Avionics systems design and integration
- Electrical architecture and system diagramming
- Python programming and debugging
- Fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR)
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testbed design and operation
- Test planning and validation methodology
