Internship 2027 Sensor Hardware Test Engineer
About this role
Bedrock is seeking a Sensor Hardware Test intern to validate and characterize cameras, lidar, and supporting sensors for autonomous excavators. You'll design test fixtures, run structured lab campaigns, process sensor data, and support field deployments on active construction equipment to inform hardware selection.
What you'll do
- Build and iterate test fixtures, mounts, wiring harnesses, and DAQ integration for sensor characterization
- Execute structured sensor test campaigns in the lab following defined procedures and document repeatable data
- Deploy test setups at field sites and support live testing on active construction equipment
- Develop automation tools to collect, process, and analyze raw sensor logs against pass/fail criteria
- Source and select test equipment including light meters, targets, DAQ hardware, and environmental test rig components
- Support electrical and mechanical debugging of test hardware and assist with fixture CAD design

- Git and collaborative development (preferred)
- Robotics or autonomous systems fundamentals (preferred)
